Chamber Orchestra participated in the State Music Performance Assessment (MPA) on Wednesday, 4/16 and came home with an overall Superior rating for their performance! This is the first time in Edgewood's history that an orchestra has earned this rating at the state level.

Every year, the district hosts a juried art exhibit for all the schools in the county. This district-wide K-12 exhibition/competition is the highlight event of our district’s visual arts programs. Students enter 2D, 3D, and digital artwork, and we are pleased to share that four of Edgewood’s students have won awards this year. Ms. Flint’s student Kirra Karpowich won first place in high school 2D, and Josslyn Allen won a merit award in 3D. Ms. Ingleton’s student Arya Dave won first place in middle school 2D, and Ellie Johnson won a merit award. Ms. Flint and Ms. Ingleton are proud of these students and would like to share their artwork. Last week, our junior and senior homerooms competed in the all-day Edgewood Challenge event. Congratulations to the first-ever BACK-TO-BACK champions: Jenkins' Jailbreak! 2nd place went to Noah’s Rawling Stones and 3rd place to Reijm’s Racks!

Edgewood Junior Classical League is collecting gently used formal wear and accessories for Project Prom until 2/23/2025.

Come celebrate Edgewood Literacy Week in the Media Center next week from Jan 27-31. Come in before school or during lunch to check out that day's activity. There will be prize giveaways for participants!

💜Edgewood has achieved the Purple Star School of Distinction designation from the Florida Department of Education!!💜 The purpose of the Purple Star School of Distinction Designation and Purple Star School District Program is to recognize schools that support the unique needs of military families, help military-connected students navigate critical challenges and provide resources for military-connected students when transitioning to a new school environment.

“The Edgewood Academic Team blew the competition away this season, averaging 282 points per match compared to the 2nd highest scoring team, Viera, who averaged 164 points per match. Out of 7 matches, they finished 1st out of the 6 teams in the room each time. Scores at the championship tournament were Edgewood 315, Melbourne 154, Viera 146, West Shore 129, Cocoa Beach 127, and Rockledge 89. The Brevard County all-star team that will compete at the state championship consists of 1 Viera player, 1 West Shore player, and 4 Edgewood players: Omkar Subramaniam, Ishaan Sen, Paul Wubbena, and Joshua Kirkpatrick. Prior to this year, no Brevard County school has seen 4 of their players selected for the all-star team.”

This past week Edgewood's Thespian Troupe #6616 brought multiple individual events as well as a One Act performance to our district competition. The One Act, The Heart and Soul of Thomas Elegie, was directed by Addison Hunt for her senior project, which earned an overall superior rating as well as Best Audio in the district. At the Individual Events competition, we entered 13 events, and an incredible 10 received superior ratings! Robert Gunn also earned Best in Show for his Costume Design presentation and was one of two recipients who received a $1,000 scholarship presented by Florida Theatrical Arts. Additionally, Addison Hunt, Elise Brasher, Sophie Avagliano, Travis Kalarovich, and William Kalarovich, who performed a small group musical, earned runner up Best in Show for their performance! The Florida Teens Read literacy event is set for 2025 and will be Jan. 13. Students must read 3+ FTR books no later than Jan 6. Permission forms are due Dec 20. See Mrs. Worcester for details and a permission form!
